Most of us have a dream which is wrapped in utmost comfort & luxury – maybe visiting a place you have been longing to go or having an own island to yourself in the middle of nowhere. If you could make your dream come true – then where would you want to go to? For me it would be a place where I would find a perfect balance of heritage & luxury. During my last visit to Kerala this is exactly what I found during my stay at – AYANA FORT KOCHI one of the luxury hotels in Kerala!
Being one of the most visited places in India, Kerala has many well-known luxury Hotels spread across in the hills of Munnar & Thekkady or at the backwaters of Alleppey or Kumarokam or in the commercial capital of Cochin, however nothing like anything that you would experience here at Ayana Fort Kochi… I was lucky enough to have got a change to stay here during one of my recent visits to Kerala for the Biennale Art festival & trust me I was not disappointed. Wrapped in an Old Portuguese charm this 200yr old heritage courthouse now converted into a beautiful heritage hotel is an ideal location for any traveler visiting Kerala. Located in Fort Kochi away from the hustle & bustle of Cochin City this hotel delivers the true meaning of warm hospitality. The 16room boutique property is quite different from the standard definition of a hotel – it has all the modern amenities blended with a luxurious heritage feel to it. Getting such a combination is very rare these days & I guess that is why Ayana caught my attention.
The rustic athangudi tiles laid across the hotel gives you a feel of the heritage culture that Kerala has to offer along with the comforts of a luxurious hotel. Every room and suite, well-laden with all sorts of facilities, boasts of an elegant décor. I stayed in one of their spacious suites which had a balcony overlooking the street which leads to the famous Spice market and offered stunning views of the harbor across the street. The delicious taste of the raw mango and prawns curry and appams had on the private roof top café while enjoying the views of the small fishing boats disappearing into the ocean to make provision for my next meal will always remain as a fond memory.
A warm evening spent lazing around in their rooftop swimming pool with a glass of red wine left me feeling at peace…
With an easy access to the boat jetty, the sightseeing spots like the Chinese fishing nets, Jewish synagogue, Dutch cemetery & also accessible to the Lulu Mall for your last-minute shopping this is for sure one of the best luxury hotels in Kerala. A recommended stay at this property during your next trip to Gods Own Country!
